
| The Reverend Julia Ashby , Priest-in-Charge, graduated from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Chicago and joined the staff here at ESC in June 1997. She has oversight of Christian Education; she leads a Wednesday night and a Thursday morning Bible study, co-mentors Education for Ministry with Mary Lou Crifasi, and facilitates three book groups, a favorite aspect of her work. In addition, she is in charge of the lay Eucharistic visitors, who work under the lay leadership of Susan Jones; helps coordinate, train, and support the Healing Ministers of ESC with Vickie Dellinger, the Healing Ministry Coordinator; and with the help of Susan Buchanan and Ellen Gallup, oversees acolytes. With the able assistance of parishioners Milt Beach and Connie Cole, she is also responsible for the training and scheduling of lectors and Eucharistic ministers. Julia also works with Confirmation and pilgrimages. |
| The Reverend James Medley, Associate Priest, graduated from The Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas in 2008. He served as rector of All Saints’ Church and Trinity Church, both in South Hill, until joining the staff of Eastern Shore Chapel in the fall of 2010. He serves as clergy liaison for Outreach with its chairperson Martha Von Schmidt-Pauli, Newcomers with Lindy Vollmer, Young Adults with Susan Buchanan, and the Men’s Friday morning breakfast and Bible Study. James also assists with Adult Formation on Sunday mornings where he can engage his interest in exploring practical theology for and with the church. |
| The Reverend Sue Crommelin, our Pastoral Associate, graduated from Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2008, joined our staff in September, 2010 after serving as Pastoral Associate, sometime rector pro tem, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, Virginia for two years. Sue, who is also a licensed clinical social worker, is considered "bivocational" as she continues a small practice in Norfolk as a Jungian analyst and therapist in addition to her duties at ESC. She will be working closely with the very busy lay Pastoral Care Assistant, Susan Williams and her team. Sue especially finds fufilling the pastoral visiting of folks in the hospital, or wherever they are situated. She also looks forward to leading small groups dealing with spiritual practice such as Centering Prayer, the Enneagram, as well as facilitating a grief group. |
