The goal of Eastern Shore Chapel’s Youth Ministry Program is to create a safe, fun and meaningful environment where youth can develop spiritually, socially and emotionally. Our program is designed to assist youth in creating meaningful relationships with friends, their families and with God. Journey to Adulthood and EYC (Episcopal Youth Community) nurture our spirit, provide fun and fellowship, encourage outreach opportunities, and give us support. From September through May, join us Sunday morning from 10:20 to 11:20 for Sunday School and for occasional afternoon activities and service projects.

Journey to Adulthood is a model of a spiritual formation program for grades 6 - 12. It attracts, instructs and nurtures young people at the ages when they are most likely to drift away from the church. It deals with the “whole” person and the Sunday School component complements the youth group program. J2A’s mission is to form young people as practicing Christians and full participants in the life of their congregation and community. Click HERE to learn more about Journey to Adulthood.
With Jesus as their role model, young people seek to examine and strengthen all aspects of their lives. In its entirety Journey to Adulthood is a six-year program, divided into three two-year components:
Rite 13: Grades 6 & 7
The Rite-13 curriculum assists young people as they take the first steps of passage away from their families and into their own lives. It liturgically celebrates the God given gifts of manhood and womanhood. The program creates a safe haven to explore new ideas, new interests and new abilities.
J2A: Grades 8 & 9
Journey to Adulthood (J2A) is the core program that blends action and contemplation in teaching young people faithful living. To prepare them for adulthood, they learn six basic skills: active listening, negotiation, assertion, research/information management, partnership and leadership. The program helps them understand and affirm Christian living. They are recognized as young adults, rather than children, and invited to make a holy pilgrimage.
EYC (Episcopal Youth Community): Grades 10-12
Following their return from pilgrimage, the young people are encouraged to find roles in the congregation. From this point on they are encouraged to explore their spiritual gifts, personal ministries and role in the Church. They are encouraged to prepare for confirmation.
